A day after clinching the moguls season title with a gold-medal win, Canadian freestyle skier Mikaël Kingsbury added a second Crystal Globe trophy by winning a dual moguls event on Saturday in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The gold-medal win wrapped up the overall title for the Deux-Montagnes, Que., native, who now has 28 Crystal Globe wins in his career.

Kingsbury is well positioned to earn a 29th as he leads the dual moguls standings with one event remaining. Japan’s Ikuma Horishima is the next closest athlete and trails Kingsbury by 84 points.

“[I’m] very happy that I got the singles and the overall title, as well as a good lead over Ikuma [in dual moguls],” Kingsbury said after the event. “It’s looking good.”

Saturday’s dual moguls win marked Kingsbury’s 98th career World Cup gold-medal victory.

The Canadian now has 11 medals (eight golds, three silvers) across 14 World Cup events this season.

After winning the the moguls competition on Friday, Mikaël Kingsbury of Deux-Montagnes, Que., won the dual moguls event on Saturday, at the FIS World Cup stop in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

American mogulist Jaelin Kauf won gold in the women’s event, while Rina Yanagimoto of Japan took silver, and Kazakhstan’s Anastassiya Gordoko claimed bronze.

The final event of the World Cup moguls season happens in Livigno, Italy, beginning on Tuesday, March 11.
